The Editorial Boards of Journals A and B have reviewed the concerning situation involving the dual submission of the same paper to both journals. The behavior exhibited by the authors raises ethical concerns related to the simultaneous submission of identical manuscripts to multiple journals.
During the peer review process of a manuscript submitted to Journal Y, a referee raised concerns about the authors' failure to declare a relevant conflict of interest (CoI). The manuscript stated that the authors had no relevant CoIs, but the referee provided evidence suggesting otherwise, pointing to a press release supporting the allegation. It was revealed that one of the authors is the discoverer of compounds discussed in the article, which have been licensed to a company. In response to this, the authors submitted a revised declaration acknowledging the CoI.

The editors of a journal recently discovered two very similar articles authored by the same individual when cross-referencing Medline for possible redundant publications. The titles of the articles were remarkably similar, differing only in the name of the disease discussed. A closer examination revealed that the abstracts shared almost 50% identical wording, and the control groups for both articles were identical, despite addressing different diseases with distinct prevalence rates.
