Tesla has issued a recall affecting 3,878 Cybertruck vehicles due to a defect that may lead to unintended acceleration, posing an increased risk of crashes. The announcement, posted in a US notice this week, highlights concerns over the accelerator pedal becoming trapped in the Cybertruck, Elon Musk's innovative interpretation of the classic American pickup.

In the notice submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on April 17, Tesla emphasized the potential impact on pedal performance and operation, underscoring the heightened collision risk associated with the issue.

While Tesla confirmed no reported collisions or injuries related to the defect, the company intends to replace or modify the accelerator to mitigate the problem.

Elon Musk's enthusiastic endorsement of the Cybertruck during its launch in November emphasized its futuristic appeal. However, the vehicle's unique design, featuring large flat plates of unbent stainless steel, presents manufacturing challenges. Musk has acknowledged the time required to scale up production, targeting 2025 for an anticipated output of 250,000 units annually.

In light of recent developments, including increased competition in the electric vehicle market and sluggish demand growth in certain regions, Tesla announced a workforce reduction exceeding 10 percent globally earlier this week.
