Gravity pulls antimatter down just like ordinary matter, a new experiment shows. The finding won’t shock many physicists. But it does put a damper on some offbeat theories that, in order to solve some of cosmology’s biggest mysteries, posit that gravity pushes rather than pulls on antimatter—so that the stuff is subject to “antigravity.”

Just how long does a cluster of protons and neutrons have to stick together to count as an atomic nucleus? That’s the question raised by the observation of nitrogen-9, a fleeting nucleus that possesses seven protons and two neutrons, a ratio so lopsided that it fates the tiny knot of matter to fall apart almost instantly, in less than one-billionth of a nanosecond. Yet it still counts as a nucleus, physicists say, and explaining its existence and properties should help expand the horizons of nuclear theory and may even have deeper implications for quantum mechanics, the theory that governs the atomic world.

After noticing the citation of his research, the scientist was surprised to learn that it was done improperly using artificial intelligence (AI). Here's what he says:
"One of our papers has been cited by a team of authors who have published a book in German on “Educational Data Mining and Learning Analytics”. The book has as subtitle “A machine generated overview”. Especially the fact that authors from Ireland have published a book in German and the use of generative AI for the book has made me even more curious.

The scholarly publishing industry is shifting at breakneck speed. Emerging technologies, like artificial intelligence, are upending academia and industry. Scientists are producing more papers than ever before.
But at its core, scholarly peer review — when researchers solicit and receive feedback on their papers from other experts — isn’t all that different, says Rachel Burley, APS’s Chief Publication Officer.
“Peer review has been around for many years,” Burley says. “What it's all about, and why we do it, hasn't really changed. It’s always been about ensuring the quality, validity, and reliability of research articles before they're published.”

A growing global movement toward holistic approaches to evaluating researchers and research aims to value a broader range of contributions than an institute’s reputation and such metrics as numbers of publications in high-impact journals, citations, and grant monies. Contributions that go largely unrewarded include committee service, outreach to the public and to policymakers, social impact, and entrepreneurship.
